Alisa has over 10 years’ experience in litigation and dispute resolution, including working internationally on litigation spanning a number of continents and legal systems. She specialises in property and construction disputes and is particularly adept at providing strategic advice on the highly technical security of payment legislation, across all jurisdictions. She holds a Masters in Construction Law from Melbourne University, is a lecturer in Construction Law at the University of Canberra, and regularly provides construction law training to members of the Master Builders Association and the Housing Industry Association. Her papers have been published in the Building & Construction Law Journal, the Australian Construction Law Newsletter, and a number of industry magazines.

Alisa is also the head of our employment team, with her personal focus being on issues prevalent in the construction industry, such as industrial relations and occupational health and safety.

In addition to disputes arising out of construction work, Alisa also acts on other property related disputes, including town planning appeals, unit titling issues and land acquisition or valuation disputes. She runs the firm’s commercial lease enforcement team, and has extensive experience in advising on leasing issues.

Alisa takes pride in keeping her clients out of the court system, achieving a resolution through negotiation or alternative dispute resolution in the majority of cases. However if circumstances call for litigation, her approach is decisive, and as swift and efficient as possible. She has acted on matters in the ACT, NSW, Qld and Federal Courts, as well as a number of tribunals. Her clients include land owners, developers, head contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and consumers.
In her spare time, Alisa supports Canberra’s Arts scene as Vice President of The Street Theatre.
