HR Managers Forum: Whistleblower Complaints and Superannuation Breaches

Don’t miss this month’s HR Managers Forum when we give you a dose of aspirin and some peace of mind in handling two hot issues for HR Managers.

Issue 1: When is an employee a whistleblower? Do you know how to deal with a whistleblower complaint
On 1 July 2019 new whistleblowing legislation implemented by the Commonwealth Government commenced operation. This legislation provides employees (including ex-employees) with new rights and protections in relation to whistleblowing complaints and how employers must deal with them. The legislation also imposes new compliance requirements on certain employers that need to be implemented by 1 January 2020.

Issue 2:  Do you use contractors? Did you know that certain contractors are entitled to superannuation even though they are not employees?
We look at what types of contractors are entitled to superannuation, and what steps can be taken so that superannuation is not applicable.

Meyer Vandenberg’s HR Managers Forum is a free learning forum for Commonwealth and Business clients with MV’s specialist employment lawyers, designed to troubleshoot common employment law scenarios.
