On 1 July 2019 new whistleblowing legislation implemented by the Commonwealth Government commenced operation. This legislation provides employees (including ex-employees) with new rights and protections in relation to whistleblowing complaints and how employers must deal with them. The legislation also imposes new compliance requirements on certain employers that need to be implemented by 1 January 2020.
