Supporting Our Community
Each each financial year staff within our firm elect a local charity or community group to champion. Our focus is on not-for-profit organisations or community groups that operate in the Canberra region. The charity elected by our staff for the 2016 -17 financial year is The Tara Costigan Foundation.
The primary focus of the Tara Costigan Foundation (TCF) is on establishing the Tara's Angels caseworker service. The TCF intend to fundraise to provide family violence victims (and their families) with a personal caseworker for a period of up to 2 years at no cost to the victims. Each Tara’s Angel acts as a counsellor, mentor, guide, trusted friend and assists victims to rebuild their lives. All Tara’s Angels have a direct therapeutic role, and will also help lives to be rebuilt by assisting victims to navigate the sometimes confusing myriad of services and bureaucratic processes facing family violence victims.
Meyer Vandenberg's chosen charity for 2015 -16 financial year was CanTeen (ACT and Southern NSW) and for 2014 - 15 was Karinya House. In 2013 - 14 our charity was the RSPCA ACT. Meyer Vandenberg’s chosen charity for 2012 - 13 was 'Paediatrics at the Canberra Hospital', or 'PatCH'. Galilee Foster Care,OzHarvest and Sid and Kids ACT are examples of local charities we have supported prior to 2012.
Our firm takes a holistic approach to supporting our community, by making charitable donations as well as by encouraging staff to undertake volunteer work and support fundraising events.
In addition to our charitable work, we are significantly involved in the community in a number of ways. We sponsor the ACT Budget Breakfast, and host meetings for the Canberra Business Chamber. We are also closely associated with organisations such as the Master Builders Association of the ACT, The Housing Industry Association Ltd, and Property Council of Australia. Our firm is dedicated to positively contributing to all aspects of our community.
