[title] => Supporting Our Community
[body] =>
Each year our team select a charity to champion. Our focus is on not-for-profit organisations or groups that operate in the Canberra region. This year's charity is 'Paediatrics at the Canberra Hospital', or 'PatCH'.
PatCH helps children who are day-patients or chronically ill alike, and aims to make their stay more comfortable. Children are allowed to bring their favourite teddy bear and their own toothbrush, while being taken care of by specialist professional staff.
Meyer Vandenberg’s chosen charity for 2011-2012 was Galilee Foster Care. Galilee Foster Care facilitates the placement of babies, children and young people with foster care families in Canberra, and we were happy to raise $10,000 to assist the organisation in continuing their very worthwhile operation.
OzHarvest and Sids for Kids ACT are examples of local charities we have supported in the past.
Our firm takes a holistic approach to supporting our community, by making charitable donations as well as by encouraging staff to undertake volunteer work and support fundraising events. You can read about the activities we undertook to assist Galilee Foster Care in our Community Engagement Report for 2012.
In addition to our charitable work, we are significantly involved in the community in a number of ways. We support the ANU Debating Society and ACT Budget Breakfast, and host meetings for the Canberra Business Council. We are also closely associated with organisations such as the Master Builders Association of the ACT, The Housing Industry Associatin Ltd, and Property Council of Australia. Our firm is dedicated to positively contributing to all aspects of our community.
